microsite05No doubt your high school student already has a full plate, so why even think about adding college to the mix? There are many reasons why high school students choose to explore college before they graduate… and CCV’s free Introduction to College Studies (ICS) class is a big one. Other students want to save money and shorten the time they’ll need to complete a college degree. Did you know that over 1,200 Vermont high school students took college courses last year?

What is ICS?

Introduction to College Studies is a free course that can help your son or daughter build skills and confidence in preparation for college and earn a  voucher to take a free course at CCV or other participating Vermont colleges. ICS meets once a week for 13 weeks and is offered at all CCV locations. View the ICS schedule.

How will ICS help my child?

The transition from high school to life beyond is a huge one, and students are often overwhelmed by all their options. ICS will help your son or daughter with college choice and preparation, with motivation, and with some of the big life questions your teen faces.  Find out more.

What’s next?

Students who successfully complete ICS can apply for a voucher that can be used for a free course at any of the Vermont State Colleges or partnering colleges (pending available funding).  If your high school student isn’t quite ready for college-level work, we have foundational classes that will help your child develop the skills that he/she needs to succeed in college.

What options do you offer?

In addition to Intro to College Studies, there are many pathways for getting a head start on college through the Vermont State Colleges Dual Enrollment Program. Contact the college admissions office to learn how your child can earn college credit through courses at any of the Vermont State Colleges (Castleton, CCV, Johnson, Lyndon, and Vermont Tech), the University of Vermont, several other colleges in Vermont, and many programs at technical centers.
