Introduction to College Studies (ICS) is a free class that helps you decide whether college fits into your future and prepares you for the transition from high school to college. In ICS you’ll work on skills that will help you succeed in college–time management, test-taking, studying, and communication, as well as stress management and goal setting. ICS usually meets only once a week for two hours over a 13-week period, but often in summer for shorter periods. It’s offered at all CCV locations and at other Vermont state colleges. Find an ICS class near you.
Here’s some of what you’ll do in ICS:
- participate in activities that teach communication skills
- explore how you learn best and develop study habits that work for you
- learn to set goals for college, work, and life
- explore ways to pay for college and develop skills in managing your money
- develop stress management techniques and apply them to various situations.
